Doctor Who Story 222 – The God Complex

I don’t think I had seen this episode more than once. It left a bad taste in my mouth originally. I actually like this more than I expected. I don’t love the concept of it, but I really do like the guest cast and how the characters interact. Surprisingly, I even like David Walliams.

So this is apparently the end of companions living on the TARDIS with the Doctor for the remainder of Moffat’s time as showrunner. I really don’t know why and I really don’t like this concept of the Doctor popping and in and out of his companions’ lives. The Doctor travels with someone and doesn’t come back. I think that’s a core part of his character.

Doctor Who Story 221 – The Girl Who Waited

So I apparently have 137 videos left to watch. If I watch one a day, I will finish on September 12, 2021. I wouldn’t mind finishing by June 30th, which means I’d have to watch 2.17 videos a day (some are Confidentials, some was webisodes), I think I can do this.

I remember liking this episode. I hope it’s still good.

I like that this episode actually shows Amy being smart. I’ve said it before, but it’s a nice change from Tennant’s companions where they never showed us but expected us to believe it.

Now that I’m seeing old Amy, I’m remembering that I hated the resolution of killing old Amy.

Doctor Who needs more consequences. Amy should have stayed that way.

Hug her, Rory!

Why the fuck should Rory get any say in which Amy to take back? It’s Amy decision, it’s her.

I really do enjoy how you doubt that Amy loves Rory, and she’s so mean to him, but they do show that she loves him.

Fuck you, Doctor. Fuck you so much. Oh and fuck you even more for making Rory choose. That is cruel.

Doctor Who Story xx – Torchwood series 4: Miracle Day

The New World

Bill Pullman was terrible in that intro scene.

I thought I was done with Russell T. Davies’ obsession with talking head news reports. This season and one more season of Sarah Jane and then no more Davies.

Why is his lawyer not having this discussion with the guy from the Governor’s office? It’s a trap, Gwen.

Running away from Jack is always a good idea.

That’s a shitty doctor who wants to cut off someone’s head.

I don’t think the CIA can extradite Torchwood.

Rendition

Why the hell are Cardiff police helping?

So is he going to heal?

Wayne Knight is in this?

This CIA agent is terrible.

“We’re doing this wrong!” So she thinks they need to clear beds so they can ignore the serious cases, but that’s dumb because they’re in excruciating pain.

Is Bill Pullman a good actor? I didn’t think he was this bad.

It’s what’s her name from Psycho Beach Party!

This is such a ridiculous story.

The backwards head looks terrible.

Dead of Night

Why is Bill Pullman doing a Captain Kirk.

Why is he so mean to Officer Don?

Haha, Americans and British people are different.

That doctor is seriously violating her ethical standards by having sex with her patient.

Escape to L.A.

What is wrong with the world for turning Bill Pullman’s character into a celebrity and caring what he has to say?

More newscasters.

Rex and the doctor’s relationship is disgusting.

How is Rex still bleeding and making more blood? Does he have an infinite supply?

Those iPhones are so old.

People don’t leave a building when a fire alarm goes off.

The Categories of Life

“They just took control over life and death.” What does that mean?

Juarez is the name of the doctor.

Wait, you’re going back to Andy after he got you arrested by the CIA.

My partner has a theory that Andy is the only cop in Cardiff and that’s why he was so cranky when she quit, because before that there were two cops in Cardiff.

“Welcome to Torchwood.” “I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.” Oh, it’s bad, everyone in Torchwood dies.

These people are still conscious and yet they just shut the lights?

Well, Juarez is gonna die, or at least just bleed an infinite amount of blood.

Why the fuck is the soldier helping her?

I wish Rick Moranis was in this. He and Bill Pullman were great together.

They’re acting like this speech that Pullman is giving is moving or motivational. It isn’t.

The Middle Men

It’s Winston Zeddemore!

Good thing she just knew where the generator room is.

“You killed her!” “I’m sorry, it’s just been such a long day.”

Are there not patients in there? What the difference between them using the crematoriums and her blowing up the crematoriums. I guess single use is better than multi-use.

Immortal Sins

So did Jack give Angelo a visa to the United States because he had a boner for the guy?

This is a bit of a gross relationship between Angelo and Jack. Angelo is in Jack’s debt, it’s gross.

Jack casually thinking that Angelo sleeping with a schoolmaster is so gross and disgusting. I sometimes really hate this show. Davies’ writing is so bad and his understand of consent seems to be suspect.

I don’t care about this Jack in the ’20s story, yet it’s 90% of this episode.

Angelo, maybe don’t run, they’re willing to shoot Jack down for very little provocation, maybe you shouldn’t run. Also, run. Run for your life.

Colonel Kira!

So if Angelo is waiting for Jack… why did they go through this whole thing of kidnapping Gwen’s family. Just go and visit Jack and tell him. That was the stupidest episode I have ever seem before and I agree with the above gif, “Jesus fuck!”

End of the Road

“There’s no one with those names.” She finished her sentence. Why did you think something was wrong.

It’s Q!

You blew up Colonel Kira! Newman!

The Gathering

You can’t die from cigarettes in this world of no death, but you can indeed get cancer, and that would SUUUUUCK!

Everything is coming to a head, and none of it makes sense.

The Blood Line

The bead of blood rolling toward the Blessing is such bad effects.

They’re using “vine technology.”

Why are they and why is Andy still talking to one another.

Well that was handy that CIA lady got off the truck.

You can’t kill someone who is omnipotent.

Is Rex now Jack level immortal?

Oh, he is.

Web of Lies

Aww, they mentioned Tosh.

They really cheaped out on the animation, and it shows.

The design of the animation is also really bad.

HAHAHAHAHA! “Oh my god, he actually programmed this thing to self-destruct.” The dialogue is so bad.

Well, that’s the end of Torchwood. I’m not sad. It was overdue.

Doctor Who Story 220 – Night Terrors

If you’re wondering where Torchwood series 4 is, I’m watching in order by air date, and while most of series 4 has aired, the last few episodes were aired between the start of the back half of this Doctor Who series. I’ll probably be finishing Torchwood right after this episode, so it’s definitely coming next, and also, expect it soon.

Oh god, a child calling out to the Doctor. Ugh.

This episode is already pissing me off and we’re only 6 minutes in.

Yup, still annoyed at the end of the episode.

Doctor Who Story 219 – Let’s Kill Hitler

Prequel

So is the Doctor ever going to tell her that she’s going to never be a mom to River?

Let’s Kill Hitler

It’s so creepy that Mels has idolized the Doctor long before she married him.

Their security system is terrible.

Oh River.

I like the Doctor’s love of young Amelia Pond.

Doctor Who monsters need to stop announcing their intention to kill.

Doctor Who Story 218 – A Good Man Goes to War

Prequel

They’re imprisoning a child?

A Good Man Goes To War

Let’s talk about the title of this episode. Do they actually think he’s a good man? He isn’t.

They’re trying to make Rory a bad ass, but he ain’t a bad ass. Even as “the last centurion.”

I like Alex Kingston.

Moffat has this bad habit of half-introducing something and thinking it’s good enough. And he does it so much in this episode.

Oh, okay, they acknowledge that he is not a good man. That’s more self-awareness than I expect from Moffat.

Get in the fucking TARDIS, Amy and Melody.

Doctor Who Story 217 – The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People

The Rebel Flesh

It should be stated that Matt Smith’s era of Doctor Who looks a lot better than David Tennant’s.

It’s Chris from Life on Mars… a show he’s in with the Master!

That gif is reminding me of when the Doctor had an electric guitar. Not looking forward to that.

We need more Dusty Springfield.

This is a very cliched Doctor Who story. It feels like it would fit as a boring Jon Pertwee story.

He keeps on saying cocarell.

This concept has potential, but Star Trek: The Next Generation did that with two Rikers.

The Almost People

Jesus, Doctor, why are you attacking Amy?

Oh my god! After all that fucking time about how the Flesh are people and deserve to live, the Doctor just goes and murders the Flesh Amy. What is wrong with these writers?

Doctor Who Story 216 – The Doctor’s Wife

The guy who plays Uncle is doing the same voice as Robin in Ghosts. I just finished watching all of Ghosts. It’s a great show.

Hooray for establishing in canon that Time Lords can regenerate into other genders.

I like the TARDIS and calling the Doctor her thief.

“You’re a bitey mad lady.”

The Doctor does bring home strays.

I love the rapport between Matt Smith and Suranne Jones.

How come Idris has a real name?

Doctor Who Story 215 – The Curse of the Black Spot

I remember this story being terrible. 2 minutes in and it’s already there.

Rory’s gonna die… again.

There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this story.

Doctor Who Story 214 – The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon

Space

That’s really gross that the entire purpose of this skit for a children’s show is to talk about Amy’s genitalia. What is wrong with Moffat?

Time

Part two is less creepy and gross, but still creepy and gross.

Prequel

Nixon’s an asshat, but this guy doesn’t sound like Nixon.

The Impossible Astronaut

Aww, it’s in memory of Elisabeth Sladen.

I don’t get why Amy and Rory are suddenly living in England and not traveling with the Doctor.

Nice that Arthur Darvill gets into the opening titles.

So the Doctor is traveling for 200 years without Amy and Rory, and then he comes back for them? That seems so unlike the character. He runs, he doesn’t return. He hates being alone, alone for 200 years?

So they keep on saying stuff like this shit. Like the Doctor is going to die, all of Tenant’s companions are going to die. It’s really annoying and I wish they would stop this bullshit.

The joke about Americans being gun happy is great.

Also, the Silence make no sense, and they never did, I feel like Moffat had an idea and then forgot what it was supposed to be.

Amy’s preggers! Mazel tov!

Day of the Moon

Amy Pond killed her daughter.

I don’t like that this episode doesn’t start where it left off.

Neil Armstrong, walking on me face.

The Silence really don’t work. It is a good idea, but the execution is a shit show.

I like awkward Rory.

I really don’t like that. The reason humans went to the moon was because the Silence needed a spacesuit? No, humans went to the moon because we have a desire to explore.
