2012

What happened in 2012? Let’s take a look at picutres… I spelled a word right: My bathroom was torn apart, but eventually put back together: A cute child celebrated her first birthday: I got the best fortune, ever: I went to Ottawa with Helen: I also went to Ottawa with Emily C. & Joseph and toured Canada’s Parliament: We went to the Diefenbunker… the coolest museum, ever! Cari wore a hat: I went to an Apple conference: I don’t recall why I was playing with Cookie Monster, but I played with Cookie Monster: There was a byelection in my riding: I saw Mike O’Neill: I made pizza with the Millers… Read More »2012

William Lyon Mackenzie King

On this, the birthday of William Lyon Mackenzie King, I thought I’d celebrate with a quote from the man’s diary… There is something in a Jew’s nature which is detestable. The sucking of blood. Uh…

Nostalgia Machine

Last night at Lee’s Palace, The Super Friendz reunited and brought the house down. Holy shit. That was truly one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I had never seen The Super Friendz in the ’90s, or during their first reunion tour in 2003 or 2004. When they announced they would be playing Halifax Pop Explosion in October, I debated going… all the way to Halifax… for a single band. Fortunately they announced a Toronto date, and those two shows were the entirety of this tour. I’m very happy they decided to come to Toronto. While I had never seen The Super Friendz, this is… Read More »Nostalgia Machine

The Onion Paywall

Update (2014/04/01):  This doesn’t seem to work anymore, check out this updated post, or see comments…. I’m not a big fan of advertisements. I’m also not a big fan of paywalls. Seeing as I do want companies to make money from their content, I’m a horrible person for finding ways around both these things. I’m worse because I’m sharing. AdBlock for Google Chrome does a great job at removing ads from everything. However, the Onion paywall is still a problem. I’m also worried about how Canadian newspapers are about to begin paywalls. I had a workaround to The Onion’s paywall, that worked well, until a few months ago. With some… Read More »The Onion Paywall

Why I’m an amazing friend

When my friend @yourepretty asked the internet… I jumped into action. I responded with the only sensible answer… Why does this make me an amazing friend? It’s simple. With my simple 10 characters, I not only gave licence to @yourepretty to have cookies for dinner, I also gave her someone to blame if she felt bad about it/herself later. It’s obviously my fault, as I suggested it. As such, I’m an amazing friend. * Please note, she did not take my advice, and instead had Thai.

Heartless Bastards

Went to see The Heartless Bastards last night at Lee’s Palace. I brought along a camera. Opening was Dana Falconberry (whose record I purchased, and she was confused by Canadian money) and Futurebirds.

Ashley

Went to Brickworks to take some pics of Ashley. Here’s my fav.

Canada’s Wonderland

Nick, Alicia, and myself headed up to Vaughan for a weekday visit to Wonderland. For those unaware, Wonderland is the major theme park in the Toronto area. We mostly went for coasters, but enjoyed a few other rides. I hadn’t been in about 8 years or so. When Lisa and I were first dating, we would go frequently every summer, but that kinda fizzled out. The trio were able to ride a good chuck of the roller coasters, and Alicia was able to fulfill her desire to eat a funnel cake. A worthy goal. Our goal to hit every coaster didn’t really come to fruition, but that didn’t matter, I… Read More »Canada’s Wonderland
