Music Monday

I was just going through Music Monday posts which I have scheduled. Got to May 17, and discovered in there was You Say Party! We Say Die! You might have heard that yesterday1, Devon Clifford, drummer for YSP,WSD passed away at the age of 30. I guess it’s only appropriate to use this space today to let the music do the talking. Well, today for me, as I’m writing this on Sunday April 18, 2010. [↩]

Romano, Squire & Doiron

Went to Daniel, Fred & Julie at the Horseshoe Tavern tonight. First up was Jerry Leger who was whiney, and kind of annoying. He seemed to play FOREVER, and I got there mid-way through his set. Next up was Baby Eagle who just bored me. Their frontman is apparently in The Constantines, and I’m one of the three people in Canada who are not fans of The Constantines. Have you heard their side of the split 12″ they did with the Unintended? LAME. Finally, we had Daniel Romano1, Fred Squire2 and Julie Doiron3. Stunning. They were absolutely, unequivocally stunning. This folk trio were able to harmonize and along with acoustic… Read More »Romano, Squire & Doiron

All Night Long

Went to see Thrush Hermit1 on Friday (as I’ve said before). Opening for them was All Night Long. Lead-singer Jelena Petrovic has a stunning smile and was an unwitting model. More photos can be found on Flickr. Adam, we know you went to see Thrush Hermit, shut up about it. [↩]

Music Monday

The Byrds lipsync to “Goin’ Back.” Wait is that Gene Clark subbing in for Crosby? Why yes, I think it is. Well, now we need some Crosby… how about CSN performing at Woodstock? Who’s your favourite Byrd. Mine isn’t Gene Clark, but he’s near the top. I think this one came about because The Byrds realized they had Clarence White in the band. I love the guy at 7:55, though, I think he’s best when they cut back to him at the end.

If I were Phyllis…

My lord, how many times can I post about Phyllis on this blog. Well, once more unto the breach. Saw Thrush Hermit tonight. You’d expect that a show cannot live up to eleven years of expectations. It surpassed it.

Who you gonna weep on, who you gonna sleep on, who you gonna creep on next?

So I should start with an apology. My post about Thrush Hermit, was kinda horrible. Here’s the thing, I don’t go into these blog posts and think to myself, “what do I want to say?” No! I just write! Yeah! Damn you professional writers and your craft, NO! This is my language and I can write what I wanna write. What was I saying? Giraffe? No. Oh yeah, Thrush Hermit. Yeah, that post sucked. It just kinda ended. That was no narrative structure, it just rambled, and rambled, and rambled, and rambled, and rambled. I had a point. I think. Yeah, it was horrible. It was supposed to say that… Read More »Who you gonna weep on, who you gonna sleep on, who you gonna creep on next?
