#Rocktober30 volume 01: Dreadful Montreal

This month I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce.

Today in Montreal was fucking cold. Sadly, I wasn’t smart enough to look at the weather forecast for the weekend, so I didn’t pack much. I had a sweater-vest I wore yesterday, but no actual sweater. I paid a trip to a local shop which wasn’t great and were asking $500+ for their sweaters. I left, but before I left, the salesman had to wish me a Shana Tovah.

SEE! I’m a visible minority1.

I decided to visit The Bay or Baie (Quebecers don’t know how to spell). I got a lovely sweater, and kinda found a sweet new sweater-vest.

Natalia might remember how hard it was to find a sweater-vest when I bought the other one. I think fashion has finally caught up with me as the store was filled with sweater-vests. Oddly enough, there was a Cosby sweater or two, as well.

From there it started raining, so I took the Metro to Schwartz’s where I found a lot of Jews. Seriously, where did all these Jews come from? Right. Poland.

Ate, read, walked in the rain, went back to hotel, walked in the rain, saw a giant group of brides and assorted wedding party members, and photographers. It was insane. Then I popped onto the metro. I travelled back up to montroyal and from there walked to a poutine place that google told me was wonderful. Oh my god it was!! Also. BOOZE. I drank a tasy Quebec beer and it was so good. I can’t remember the name. *facepalm*.

Then I walked some more, went into a chocolate shop to avoid the rain and drank hot chocolate. And reminisced with Twitter about St. Hubert’s as I saw one across the street2.

From there I took the subway back to the hotel. Hung out until I went for more poutine later in the night. After that long walk in the rain. I’m back in the hotel. Thinking that it’s too cold and wet and there are no awesome concerts. Hopefully it will be better weather tomorrow.

  1. Funny, he doesn’t look Druish. []
  2. Shira, remember when we went there all the time, then we suddenly switched to Swiss Chalet? Good times. []

  1. Oh great. That’s all we needed. A Druish princess.

We went to both St Huberts and Swiss Chalet until St Huberts at Don Mills and Finch (I think that’s where it was) closed.
